Characterize the post-disruption increase of the boreal forest using airborne LiDAR: an approach to improving the site quality index.
The project aims to use the LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data to acquire data on young forest stands in the boreal forest that are difficult to access due to major disturbances (logging, forest fires). The characteristics of these stands, once linked, would improve our understanding of the phenomena affecting the growth of these stands. It is therefore necessary to determine which variables explain the observed growth. It will then be possible to develop a model that predicts forest growth using LiDAR data. The predictive capacity of this new model will have to be compared to existing models. Finally, growth trends induced by the type of disturbance can be assessed, with an emphasis on logging and fire.
